In short
- Level 10 to 20 is where a gatherer first outearns a quester: the second tier of herbs, ore and leather is in demand from every crafter levelling a profession.
- The first craftable goods that sell are consumables and bags, because they get used up; armor and weapons at this level are outgrown before they are bought.
- List against the 30 day median, not the lowest price on the board, and let stacks sit for a day rather than undercutting into a race.
- Your first real purchase is bags, and nothing else until level 40.
This week on Normal HordeSquashed Rabbit Carcass up 900%, Red Fireworks Rocket down 90% against the 7 day median. This week's report has every market; the market page has the full leaderboards.
What you can reach
Between 10 and 20 you leave the starter zone, your gathering skills pass 50, and the second tier of every material comes into reach. This is the first band where a character who gathers earns more than one who only quests, because every crafter on the market is pushing through the same tier and needs the same stacks.
Your first crafting profession is worth taking now if it makes something that gets used up. Tailoring makes bags, alchemy makes potions, cooking makes food. Blacksmithing and leatherworking make gear that is outgrown before it sells, and are better left until you have the gold to skip their slow stretches.
What to sell
- Second-tier materials, in full stacks. They are the busiest trade on the house at this level.
- Consumables you can make. The recipes block shows which recipes at your skill clear the auction house cut on this market right now, and by how much.
- Bags. Every alt buys them and nobody keeps them long. If you can make them, make them; if you cannot, sell the cloth to somebody who can.
What to skip
Armor and weapons at your level. They are outgrown in a day, the market is full of them, and the reagents you would spend making one sell for more than the finished piece. Skip the bank too: a stack in the bank earns nothing, and a stack on the house at the median earns while you play.
List against the 30 day median, not the lowest listing on the board. The lowest listing is one seller in a hurry and tells you nothing about what the stack is worth.
When to move on
Bags are your one purchase in this band, and after them nothing until the mount. Once your gathering skills pass 100 and the mid-tier materials start to drop, you are in level 20 to 30, where dungeons enter the picture.

Common questions
- How do you make gold at level 10 to 20 in WoW Forever?

- Which recipes pay at level 10 to 20?
- The ones a character in this band can learn, skill 50 to 100, ranked above by what they earn at the current medians on Normal Horde: result price less the auction house cut, less every reagent at its median. A recipe with an unpriced reagent is not ranked, so a margin is never overstated.
- What should a level 10 to 20 character sell?
- The materials and drops of the zones for this level, priced above from the latest scan: what the market pays per unit and per stack, and which market pays most. Consumed goods sell again next week; a piece of gear sells once, so the list favours what gets used up.
- Which market do these prices come from?
- Normal Horde, the market with prices for this guide right now; switch the market at the top of the page to see another. Every number comes from players scanning that house with the addon.
- How often does this guide update?
- The written parts hold across beta builds. The priced blocks refresh every ten minutes from the latest scans and the weekly report, so the recipe that pays and the material worth farming can change from one visit to the next.
