Glossary
What each word on the site means, in the sense AHledger uses it. Item and market pages link here; the guides put the terms to work.
- 30 day median
- The median of the daily typical price over the last thirty days. It is the baseline the deal finder and the percent-under alerts measure against, because a month smooths out weekend spikes and reset day dips.See 7 day median, 90 day median, Deal
- 7 day median
- The median of the daily typical price over the last seven days. The "vs 7d median" figure on a price card is how far today sits above or below it.See Median, 30 day median
- 90 day median
- The same measure over ninety days, for items whose price moves with the season or a patch cycle.See 30 day median
- AHledger addon
- The free in-game addon: tooltip prices, a posting helper, a deal finder, crafting margins, bag appraisal, a watchlist with alerts, and the scanner that feeds the site. Addons cannot use the network, so it needs AHledger sync to share scans.See AHledger sync, Scan
- AHledger sync
- The small desktop app that bridges the addon and the site: it uploads each new scan under your upload key and writes fresh price tables back into the addon folder. The addon works without it; the site does not learn anything without it.See Upload key, Price table
- Alert
- A rule on one item and one market that fires when a price or quantity crosses a line you set: minimum buyout or median at or below or above a price, median a percent under its 30 day median, or fewer than a number listed. Site alerts arrive by email and wait 24 hours after firing.See Watchlist, 30 day median
- Auction house
- The in-game marketplace where players list items for other players to buy. Each listing has a buyout price, an optional bid, a quantity, and a duration. Listings that sell pay a cut to the house.See Market, Minimum buyout
- Binding
- Whether an item can change hands. Binds when picked up means it can never be listed; binds when equipped means it can be sold until someone wears it. Only unbound items have auction prices.
- Build
- One version of the Forever client. Each build can add, remove, or change items; the changes pages list exactly what moved between builds, read from the client data.
- Crafting margin
- What a craft sells for minus what its reagents cost at current prices, per craft. AHledger prices reagents at their median and names any reagent with no known price instead of counting it as free.See Reagent, Median
- Deal
- A listing whose buyout sits a chosen percent under the item’s 30 day median. The addon’s deal finder lists them from your latest scan, biggest saving first.See 30 day median
- Faction
- Alliance or Horde. Each faction has its own auction house on every ruleset. The two only meet at the neutral auctioneers, which charge a higher cut, so faction prices can drift apart.See Market
- Item level
- The game’s power rating for gear. AHledger ranks new Forever gear by item level within its class and slot so you can see where a piece sits among its peers.
- Market
- One auction house economy on AHledger: a game, a ruleset, a faction, and a region. World of Warcraft: Forever has no realms, so a market is the whole population of one ruleset and faction, for example PvP Horde.See Ruleset, Faction, Realmless
- Median
- The middle price of all units listed at the time of the scan, per unit, weighted by quantity. Half the units on the house are priced at or below it. It ignores one odd listing at either end, which is why AHledger uses it as the reference price.See Minimum buyout, 30 day median
- Minimum buyout
- The lowest buyout price on any listing of an item at the time of the scan, per unit. It is what you would pay right now for one, and the price an undercutter has to beat. A single cheap listing can drag it far under what most units sell for; read it next to the median.See Median, Scan
- New in Forever
- An item that exists in the Forever client and did not exist in Classic Era. The catalog marks them, and they have no price history anywhere until the first scans.See Build
- Price table
- The compact set of per-item prices a market’s scans produce, which AHledger sync writes back into the addon so tooltips and the posting helper have current numbers in game.See AHledger sync, AHledger addon
- Provenance
- The label under every price saying where it came from (an addon scan, the Blizzard API, or client data) and when it was observed. AHledger shows a price’s provenance rather than hiding its age.See Stale
- Reagent
- An item a recipe consumes. Item pages list the recipes an item is used in and the reagents each craft takes, with quantities.See Crafting margin
- Realmless
- How Forever is built: instead of hundreds of separate realms, every player on a ruleset shares one world and one economy per faction. It is why Forever markets are few and very liquid.See Market, Ruleset
- Region
- The Blizzard region a market belongs to. AHledger tracks the US region first; other regions are added as the game opens them.
- Ruleset
- The rules a Forever character plays under: Normal, PvP, or RP, with Hardcore to follow. Each ruleset is its own megaserver with its own auction houses, so prices on PvP and Normal are unrelated.See Market
- Scan
- One read of every listing on a market’s auction house by the AHledger addon, taken when a player opens the house and presses Scan or lets the addon scan on its timer. A scan takes seconds and holds item ids, quantities, and prices, nothing about players.See AHledger addon, AHledger sync, Provenance
- Stale
- A price whose last observation is older than the freshness window for its source. A stale badge means the number is real but old; a new scan replaces it.See Provenance, Scan
- Units listed
- How many individual units of an item are on the auction house across every listing, not how many listings there are. A stack of 20 counts as 20.
- Upload key
- A key id and secret created on your account page and pasted into AHledger sync. Every upload is signed with it, so the server knows which install a scan came from and can drop a bad actor without touching anyone else.See AHledger sync
- Vendor price
- Two numbers from the client data: what a vendor pays you for an item (the floor no auction price stays under for long) and what a vendor charges for it (the ceiling for anything a vendor sells in unlimited supply).
- Volatility
- How much an item’s daily median moves around its 30 day average, as a percentage. A low number is a stable commodity; a high number is an item that swings, which is either risk or opportunity depending on the side you are on.
- Watchlist
- The items you follow. On the site it prices them across every market on one page and holds your email alerts; in the addon it keeps its own list with chat alerts.See Alert
