World of Warcraft: Forever · Classic Era comparison
1,024 class spells and 304 talents changed from Classic Era in WoW Forever
Every spell on a class skill line and every talent in the Forever beta, set against the same spell in the current Classic Era client. Both tooltips are shown with their numbers filled from each game's own data, so a retuned Fireball reads as "45 to 61" against "53 to 73" rather than as a token. Cost, cast time, cooldown, range, duration, level and effect values are compared too, and so is how many points a talent takes. 124 spells are new to Forever, 169 Classic Era spells are not in Forever, and 122 talents in the beta's trees have no Classic Era version.

How the comparison is made
- The Forever side is the game's own spell data, refreshed with every beta build (currently 1.60.1.70205). The Classic Era side is the current Classic Era client, read from Blizzard's own content servers. Nothing comes from a third party.
- A spell is matched by its id, which the two games share. A spell is "new" when Forever has it on a class skill line and Classic Era does not, and "not in the beta" the other way round. Whether a missing spell is gone for good or not yet added is Blizzard's to say; the count is recomputed on each build.
- Classic Era stores an effect's value as a base plus a die and the beta as one value with a variance; both are turned into the same "14 to 22" range before being compared, so a change of storage alone never counts as a change.
- A talent is matched by its talent id and compared at its top rank on each side. Forever runs talents on the trait system: a talent that takes several points is one spell whose values grow with each point, so its top values are what Classic Era's top rank had, and the number of points it takes is compared as such.
- A tooltip whose tokens the tables cannot fill is shown in the game's own wording, marked as such, rather than half filled.
- Pet abilities, mounts, companions and the Season of Discovery rune engravings sit on class skill lines in both clients and are left out; they are not the class's own spells, and whether Forever uses runes is not something the tables can say.
