World of Warcraft: Forever RP ruleset
RP is the roleplaying ruleset: Normal rules for PvP, with a naming policy and a community that plays in character. It is usually the smallest of the three populations.
Small matters in a game with no realms, because the whole RP population of a faction is one auction house. It is the thinnest market in the game, and thin markets behave differently from deep ones.
What RP does to the auction house
- Fewer listings per item, so an item can go unlisted for hours, and the first seller to list it sets the price for everyone who looks that day.
- The gap between the cheapest listing and the median is the widest of the three rulesets. Sellers who list at the median rather than undercutting are rewarded for waiting.
- Cosmetic and roleplay items that sell for vendor price on Normal have buyers here. Tabards, dress-like armor and named weapons find a market.

Questions
- Does the RP ruleset have different PvP rules?
- No. RP uses Normal PvP rules: you are flagged in the open world only if you choose to be. What is different is the naming policy and the expectation that players stay in character in public.
- Is the RP auction house worth using?
- For a seller, often more than the deep markets: less competition, wider spreads, and demand for items nobody else wants. For a buyer, patience is required, because the thing you want may not be listed today.
