PvP means everyone is flagged in contested zones, which makes gathering runs riskier and pushes the price of mats that come from contested land, and of consumables that win fights, above what the same items fetch on Normal.

Alliance and Horde never share an auction house directly. What crosses over goes through the neutral auctioneers, which take a larger cut, so a price gap between the two factions can persist for days.
