The cost you never pay

Every other class buys food and water from level 1 to 60, and the total over a character is larger than the mount. A Mage conjures both, so the money every other class spends on the vendor is money a Mage banks. That is the first Mage gold mechanic and it needs no auction house at all: it is simply a cost you do not have.

The second is that conjured stacks are worth gold to other people. A stack of the best water you can make is a small sale every time a group forms, and the reagent cost is zero.

Cloth is the product

Area-of-effect spells make a Mage the fastest cloth farmer in the game, and cloth is consumed by every tailor levelling, every first-aid kit and every bandage a raider carries. Its price is set by that demand, not by who is farming this week, which is why the cloth block on this page is the Mage's income statement. Pick the tier your level can farm in bulk and sell it in full stacks.

Humanoid packs drop cloth; beasts do not. The zone and creature pages under zones say which packs players have seen drop what, from their own reports.

Portals and stacks

A portal is a service: somebody pays you to skip a flight, and the reagent costs a fraction of what they pay. It never touches the auction house, so it never pays the cut. The same goes for conjured stacks handed over in a city. Neither scales the way cloth does, but both are income at no cost, and a Mage who answers the trade channel earns them every session.

How to list it

Cloth moves in volume. List full stacks at the median and let them sit; the buyer who needs forty stacks tonight pays the median, and the one who undercuts you sells one stack. Do not list everything at once: a hundred stacks from one seller tells the market exactly how much supply just arrived.
