How to make gold at level 40 to 50

• Vendors sell it for 7g 73s 99c and buy it back for 1g 54s 80c. That is the ceiling for an auction price while vendors stock it.
• Crafted by Tailoring at skill 210; the recipe comes from a trainer. Reagents below.
• Disenchants into Small Brilliant Shard, worth about 12g 2s on Normal Alliance US today. Odds below.

• Fractured Mind Pauldrons · Tailoring 210 · trainer
  • 10× Nightmare Seed
  • 8× Bolt of Runecloth
  • 8× Felcloth
  • 1× Inert Mantle of Nightmares

• Small Brilliant Shardalways · 2 to 44g 70c

Expected value 12g 2s per disenchant at Normal Alliance US medians. More than the 1g 54s 80c a vendor pays for it.

Vanilla disenchant tables by quality and item level; the same estimate the addon shows in tooltips.
