How to make gold at level 30 to 40

• Vendors sell it for 4g 37s 78c and buy it back for 87s 55c. That is the ceiling for an auction price while vendors stock it.
• Found in Large Solid Chest in Scarlet Monastery (Footman's Armory) (1% of 80 looted).
• Sources are what one player running the addon saw in game, summed across everyone who contributes; a rate needs at least twenty loot windows.
• Disenchants into Vision Dust, Greater Mystic Essence, Large Glowing Shard, worth about 1g 33s 36c on Normal Alliance US today. Odds below.

Seen inside Scarlet Monastery.

• Vision Dust20% of the time · 1 to 234s 96c
• Greater Mystic Essence75% of the time · 1 to 299s
• Large Glowing Shard5% of the time2g 29s 97c

Expected value 1g 33s 36c per disenchant at Normal Alliance US medians. That is above the item's own median of 1g 32s, so an enchanter can buy it to shard.

Vanilla disenchant tables by quality and item level; the same estimate the addon shows in tooltips.
