How to make gold at level 30 to 40

• Vendors sell it for 1g 94s 95c and buy it back for 38s 99c. That is the ceiling for an auction price while vendors stock it.
• Found in Large Iron Bound Chest in Scarlet Monastery (Training Grounds) (2% of 62 looted).
• Sources are what one player running the addon saw in game, summed across everyone who contributes; a rate needs at least twenty loot windows.
• Disenchants into Vision Dust, Greater Mystic Essence, Large Glowing Shard, worth about 80s 52c on Normal Alliance US today. Odds below.

Seen inside Scarlet Monastery.

• Vision Dust75% of the time · 1 to 234s 96c
• Greater Mystic Essence20% of the time · 1 to 299s
• Large Glowing Shard5% of the time2g 29s 97c

Expected value 80s 52c per disenchant at Normal Alliance US medians. More than the 38s 99c a vendor pays for it.

Vanilla disenchant tables by quality and item level; the same estimate the addon shows in tooltips.
