In short
- The Hood (item level 25, 10 Stamina, 8 Agility) and the Helm (item level 30, 10 Agility, 13 Stamina) are rare leather head pieces new to Forever that bind when picked up, so only a leatherworker can wear them.
- The Hood is a Leatherworking 85 recipe taking four Shadowgem, eight Medium Leather, two Fine Thread, two Cured Medium Hide and four Pristine Leather; the Helm at 90 takes three Shadowgem, twelve Medium Leather and two Cured Medium Hide.
- Addon users have recorded the Hood pattern sold by Pawani in The Barrens and Daniel Stitchsong in Redridge Mountains for 25 silver, and dropped once in Wailing Caverns; no Helm pattern appears in the catalog.
- Neither helm nor the pattern ever reaches the auction house, so the demand shows up in Medium Leather, Shadowgem and Pristine Leather instead.

What the Brawler's Leather Hood and Helm are
The Brawler's Leather Hood and the Brawler's Leather Helm are two rare leather head pieces that World of Warcraft: Forever added to the game. Neither existed in Classic Era. They are a pair in the plain sense: the same name, the same slot, the same stat pairing, five levels apart. The Hood is item level 25 and asks for character level 20; it carries 76 armor, 10 Stamina and 8 Agility. The Helm is item level 30 and asks for level 25; it carries 84 armor, 10 Agility and 13 Stamina. Agility and Stamina on leather is the shape of a melee or ranged piece for a character who wears leather, and in the early 20s a rare helm with those numbers is a real upgrade over whatever a quest handed out.
The detail that decides everything else on this page is that both pieces bind when picked up. A crafted item that binds on pickup never reaches the auction house, never changes hands by mail, and cannot be commissioned from a leatherworker in the usual way, because the moment it is made it belongs to the maker. The only way to wear a Brawler's Hood is to be a leatherworker at the right skill and craft it yourself. That makes these two helms a reason to take Leatherworking rather than a product of it.
For everyone else, the Brawler's pair still matters, just one step removed. The leatherworkers who want them have to buy or farm a specific list of materials, and that list is where the gold is. This guide covers what the two recipes take, where the Hood pattern comes from, and which reagents carry the demand.
Where the Hood and Helm come from
Both helms are made by Leatherworking and nothing else. The client data lists each recipe as trainer-taught, and for the Hood there is also a pattern item in the catalog: Pattern: Brawler's Leather Hood, a rare pattern that asks for Leatherworking 100 to learn, with a vendor price of 25 silver and a sell-back of 5 silver. It binds when picked up, so it is not something you buy from another player either. The list below is where players running the AHledger addon have actually seen it, most often first, and it grows as scans arrive.
- Sold by Pawani in The Barrens · seen 6 times
- Sold by Daniel Stitchsong in Three Corners, Redridge Mountains · seen 5 times
The records so far point at two vendors and one dungeon. Pawani in The Barrens has the most sightings, six of them, and Daniel Stitchsong at Three Corners in Redridge Mountains has four. That is one Horde-side vendor and one Alliance-side vendor, so a leatherworker on either faction has a stop within reach of the level 20 zones. The pattern has also dropped once in the Crag of the Everliving in Wailing Caverns, a single record from a single player, which is enough to say it can drop and not enough to say how often.
The Helm is the odd one out. No pattern item for it appears in the catalog at all, which means the only route the data shows is the trainer. If a Helm pattern exists somewhere in the game, nobody running the addon has seen it yet, and this page will say so the day someone does.
If you are a leatherworker passing through the Barrens or Redridge around level 20, buy the Hood pattern on the way. It costs 25 silver, it binds, and you cannot pick it up later from the auction house.
What the recipes take
The two recipes sit five skill points apart and share most of a shopping list. The live blocks below show each recipe with its reagents as the catalog holds them; the shape of the cost is this.
- Brawler's Leather Hood, Leatherworking 85. Four Shadowgem, eight Medium Leather, two Fine Thread, two Cured Medium Hide and four Pristine Leather. It stays orange until skill 125 and goes grey at 150, so it is a skill-up recipe for a long stretch, not a one-off.
- Brawler's Leather Helm, Leatherworking 90. Three Shadowgem, twelve Medium Leather and two Cured Medium Hide. No thread and no Pristine Leather. It goes grey at 130.
- Brawler's Leather Hood · Leatherworking 858 × Medium Leather, 4 × Pristine Leather, 4 × Shadowgem, 2 × Cured Medium Hide, 2 × Fine Thread
- Brawler's Leather Helm · Leatherworking 9012 × Medium Leather, 3 × Shadowgem, 2 × Cured Medium Hide
Three reagents carry the cost. Medium Leather is the bulk, twenty pieces across the pair, and it is also the leather every other recipe in this skill range wants, so its price moves with the whole profession rather than with these helms. Shadowgem is seven across the pair and comes from mining rather than skinning, which puts a leatherworker in the market for a gem they cannot produce themselves. Pristine Leather is the Forever reagent in the list: four in the Hood and none in the Helm, made by leatherworkers, so a crafter can either make it or buy it from one who did. Cured Medium Hide is the fourth input, a leatherworker's own product, and the cheapest of the four to arrange.
Neither helm is a reagent for anything. Nothing in the catalog consumes a Brawler's Hood or Helm, which is the usual case for a bind-on-pickup armor piece: it is the end of its chain, worn or vendored and nothing else.
What the Hood and Helm are worth
The honest answer is that they have no auction house price and never will. The pieces bind when picked up and so does the Hood pattern, so no scan has listed any of the three on any market, and the price block below says exactly that until the day it has something to show. What a leatherworker can price is the cost of making one, and what a trader can price is the demand that cost creates.
No market has a scan with Pattern: Brawler's Leather Hood listed yet. The item page fills in as scans arrive.
To cost a Hood, add the median of four Shadowgem, eight Medium Leather, two Cured Medium Hide and four Pristine Leather on your market, plus the thread from a vendor. The Helm is three Shadowgem, twelve Medium Leather and two hides. The item pages linked above carry the current median on each market and the 7 and 30 day medians beside it, so you can see whether today is a cheap day to craft or an expensive one, and the crafting desk does the sum for any recipe in the catalog.
Read the Helm's cost as the floor for a level 25 leather head slot, because a leatherworker who wants one will pay it. Read the Hood's cost the same way for level 20, with Pristine Leather as the swing: it is the one reagent in the pair that only a leatherworker makes, and its price moves when a wave of crafters reaches skill 85 at the same time.
Craft it, sell into it, or skip it
If you are a leatherworker. Make both. The Hood at 85 and the Helm at 90 are the natural next steps on the way to 100, they stay orange or yellow for dozens of points, and you end up wearing the result instead of vendoring a stack of practice pieces. Buy the Hood pattern from Pawani or Daniel Stitchsong before you need it. Buy Shadowgem when the 7 day median is below the 30 day median on your market, and make your own Cured Medium Hide and Pristine Leather rather than paying another crafter's margin.
If you skin or mine. This is a demand sink for Medium Leather and Shadowgem that arrives every time a leatherworker passes skill 85, and on a fresh market that happens in waves. Post Medium Leather in stacks of twenty, which is one Hood plus half a Helm, and Shadowgem in stacks of four or seven. A watchlist alert on Shadowgem at its 30 day median will tell you when the leatherworkers have arrived without you checking.
If you buy to resell. There is nothing to flip here. The helms do not trade, the pattern does not trade, and the reagents are all deep markets with vendor-style floors. The only trade is the reagent spread between factions, and the prices guide explains why the median rather than the cheapest listing is the number to work from.
If you are not a leatherworker and want the helm. You cannot have it. That is the whole point of a bind-on-pickup craft: it is a reason to take the profession. The Leatherworking hub lists every recipe the profession has in Forever, so you can see what else the skill buys you before you commit a profession slot to a hat.
What changes on 5 November
Everything above describes the beta economy, which has run on the US markets since September with a few thousand players. Launch on 5 November changes the timing more than the facts. On a fresh server, leatherworkers reach skill 85 somewhere around the end of the first week, and they reach it together, because everyone levels through the same zones at the same pace. That is the week Medium Leather, Shadowgem and Pristine Leather all get bought at once by people with the same shopping list.
Expect Shadowgem to be the reagent that spikes, since miners in the first week are vendoring and dumping copper rather than prospecting for gems, and expect Pristine Leather to be thin until the second wave of leatherworkers starts making it for skill. Medium Leather will be deep from the start, because skinners produce it whether anyone wants it or not. If you plan to craft the pair at launch, buy the Shadowgem on the first weekend and the leather whenever you reach the recipe. The first week guide covers the same curve for the rest of the catalog, and the EU markets will run it from the same hour.
Common questions
- How do you get the Brawler's Leather Helm in WoW Forever?
- By crafting it. It is a Leatherworking recipe at skill 90 that takes three Shadowgem, twelve Medium Leather and two Cured Medium Hide, and the helm binds when picked up, so it cannot be bought from another player or found on the auction house.
- Where is the Brawler's Leather Hood recipe?
- The client lists the Hood as a trainer recipe at Leatherworking 85, and a pattern item also exists. Players running the addon have recorded that pattern sold by Pawani in The Barrens and by Daniel Stitchsong at Three Corners in Redridge Mountains for 25 silver, and dropped once in the Crag of the Everliving in Wailing Caverns. The pattern binds when picked up.
- What does the Brawler's Leather Hood need?
- Four Shadowgem, eight Medium Leather, two Fine Thread, two Cured Medium Hide and four Pristine Leather. Pristine Leather is a Forever reagent made by leatherworkers. The recipe stays orange until skill 125 and turns grey at 150.
- Is there a pattern for the Brawler's Leather Helm?
- Not in the catalog. The Helm recipe is listed as trainer-taught at Leatherworking 90, and no pattern item for it appears in the game data or in any addon record so far. The Hood is the one with a pattern.
- Can you buy or sell the Brawler's Leather Hood or Helm?
- No. Both pieces bind when picked up, so they never reach the auction house and cannot be commissioned from a leatherworker. The money is in the reagents: Medium Leather, Shadowgem, Cured Medium Hide and Pristine Leather.
- Who are the Brawler's helms for?
- Leather wearers who want Agility and Stamina on the head slot at levels 20 and 25, and who have Leatherworking. The Hood carries 76 armor, 10 Stamina and 8 Agility; the Helm carries 84 armor, 10 Agility and 13 Stamina.
