In short

  • The Cloudy Gustwoven Spaulders are uncommon level 30 leather shoulders new to Forever with 7 Agility and 7 Stamina, bind on equip, so they trade on the auction house.
  • Leatherworkers make them from a trainer recipe at skill 145: twelve Heavy Leather, two Cured Heavy Hide, a Heavy Silken Thread and six Bleach; the Azure twin swaps Bleach for Blue Dye.
  • In the beta economy the twin traded between five and thirty gold a pair on a thin shelf, so the median jumps when leatherworkers post skill-up stock or an alt builder clears it.
  • List two pairs at a time at the 30 day median; buy whichever twin is cheaper that day.

What the Cloudy Gustwoven Spaulders are

The Cloudy Gustwoven Spaulders are uncommon leather shoulders new to World of Warcraft: Forever, item level 35, wearable from level 30. The current client build gives them 76 armour, 7 Agility and 7 Stamina. That is a straightforward piece for a rogue, a hunter or a feral druid in the 30s, the levels where shoulders are hard to come by: the dungeon drops in that range are few, the quest rewards are mostly cloth and mail, and most leather wearers go from the Wailing Caverns to Scarlet Monastery with whatever they found in between.

Unlike most of the new crafted gear, these bind on equip. The client flags them as binding when equipped, which means a leatherworker can make them and sell them, and a player who outgrows them can sell them on. That puts the Gustwoven pieces in a different category from the bind-on-pickup cloth circlets: they are market items with a real price, and the price is below.

They have a twin. The Azure Gustwoven Spaulders are the same recipe with Blue Dye in place of Bleach, same level, same armour, and the two trade as alternatives for the same slot. Which one a buyer takes usually comes down to which is listed cheaper that day.

Where they come from

The spaulders are crafted by leatherworkers from a trainer recipe at skill 145. No creature drops them and no vendor sells them. The recipe takes:

Twelve Heavy Leather, two Cured Heavy Hide, a Heavy Silken Thread and six Bleach. The bleach and the thread are vendor items from the tailoring and leatherworking supplies vendors; the leather and the cured hide are what a skinner in the 30s zones produces, and the hide needs Salt, another vendor reagent, to cure. The whole piece is made from ordinary mid-level materials, which is why its price is set by the leather market rather than by any rare drop.

The recipe stays orange until skill 185 and goes grey at 190, a narrow window compared with the low-level Forever recipes. A leatherworker working from 145 to 185 will get a point from every craft and end up with a few dozen pairs of shoulders, Cloudy or Azure, that they need to sell. That supply, arriving in bursts as leatherworkers reach 145, is the main thing that moves the price.

If you skin, the demand for these shoulders is a reason Heavy Leather holds its price through the 30s. Twelve a pair, and every leveling leatherworker makes a stack of pairs.

Who they are for

The spaulders are an end product; nothing uses them as a reagent. They are made to be worn, and three groups want them.

  • Leather wearers at 30. Rogues, hunters and feral druids hitting 30 with empty or green shoulders. Seven Agility and seven Stamina on a 35 piece beats anything from a quest at that level, and the slot is otherwise filled by luck in a dungeon.
  • Leatherworkers leveling. The recipe is the natural path from 145 to 185, so leatherworkers make them for skill and sell the output. That is why there are usually several listed, and why the Azure version, which uses Blue Dye instead of Bleach, appears alongside.
  • Twink and alt builders. A bind on equip piece with good stats at 30 is a standard buy for anyone gearing an alt through the dungeons of that range, and those buyers pay more per pair than a leveler does, because they want it now.

No recipe in the Forever client uses Cloudy Gustwoven Spaulders as a reagent.

What they are worth

The table shows the current median listing on each market with a recent scan, with the 7 and 30 day medians beside it. Each row is a separate auction house: a market in Forever is one ruleset and faction in a region, and a pair of shoulders on the Horde PvP house is a different listing in front of a different crowd from the same pair on Alliance Normal.

No market has a scan with Cloudy Gustwoven Spaulders listed yet. The item page fills in as scans arrive.

Through October 2026 the Azure twin traded between five and thirty gold a pair on the US markets, with the Alliance markets near the bottom of that range and the Horde PvP market at the top. Only a handful were listed on any market at a time, which is normal for crafted gear and is why the median jumps: three leatherworkers posting their skill-up output on the same evening can halve the price, and one alt builder clearing the shelf can double it. Read the 30 day median as the fair price and the 7 day median as the mood.

The floor is the cost of the leather. Twelve Heavy Leather and two Cured Heavy Hide at their medians, plus a few silver of bleach and thread, is what a leatherworker needs to recover, and a listing below that is someone dumping skill-up stock. The crafting desk shows the margin on each market from the latest scan.

Make them, buy them, or wait

If you are a leatherworker. Make them for skill from 145 to 185, but do not post them all at once. List two pairs at a time, Cloudy and Azure, at or just under the 30 day median, and keep the rest in the bank; the buyers arrive at a steady trickle as characters reach 30, not in a rush. Posting ten at once does nothing but invite the undercut.

If you are a rogue, hunter or druid at 30. Buy whichever twin is cheaper on your market that day; the stats are identical. The best time to buy is a few days after a content build or launch, when the first wave of leatherworkers hits 145 and the shelf fills up. A watchlist alert at the 30 day median catches that moment.

If you trade. The spread between the Alliance and Horde markets has been wide for this item, and a bind on equip piece can be moved between characters. The shelf is thin, so move pairs rather than stacks, and sell on the PvP market, where alt builders have paid the most. The prices guide explains why to trade on the median rather than the cheapest listing.

Shoulders are one of the slots the level 30 to 40 gold guide covers from the other side, as a thing worth farming leather for.

What changes on 5 November

The prices above are from the beta economy on the US markets. Launch on 5 November starts every market, US and EU, from nothing, and the spaulders are a third-week item on a fresh server: a leatherworker needs skill 145, a skinner needs to have been through the 30s zones for the Heavy Leather, and a buyer needs to be level 30. None of that happens in launch week. The first pairs will appear in the second week, made by the leatherworkers who leveled fastest, and they will be expensive, because the buyers at 30 arrive before the supply does.

That is the window for a leatherworker. In the beta the price only came down once a wave of crafters hit 145 together and posted their skill-up output; on a launch server that wave is a week or two behind the first buyers. A leatherworker who reaches 145 early and has Heavy Leather banked can sell the first pairs at a multiple of the eventual price. A buyer who can wait two weeks pays a fraction. Either way, the 30 day median will not mean much until December, so read the 7 day figure in the table above as the price for the first month. The first week guide has the shape of the launch economy for the rest of the catalog.
