In short
- Coarse Dynamite is a common explosive at item level 20, unchanged from Classic Era: 60 Fire damage in a 5 yard radius, and it needs Engineering 75 to use, so only engineers can buy it to any purpose.
- Engineers make two sticks from three Coarse Blasting Powder and one Linen Cloth at a trainer recipe learned at skill 50, orange to 90 and grey from 105.
- The vendor pair is 3 silver to buy and 75 copper to sell back; in the October 2026 beta the medians ran from 2 silver to 50 silver, and the 50 was six units on one market.
- Make it for the skill points and keep the sticks; sell surplus five at a time on a thin shelf; do not trade it, because the only buyers make their own.

What Coarse Dynamite is
Coarse Dynamite is an engineering explosive carried into World of Warcraft: Forever from Classic Era, and the catalog shows it unchanged: the same item level, the same requirement, the same vendor prices. The client files it under Consumable, in the Explosives bucket, at common quality and item level 20. Used, it inflicts 60 Fire damage to everything within 5 yards. It stacks to twenty.
The line that decides everything about this item is its requirement. Coarse Dynamite needs Engineering 75 to use. Not to make, to use. A warrior who buys a stack on the auction house cannot throw it, and neither can an engineer who is still at skill 60. So the only buyers on any market are engineers at 75 or above, and most of those can make their own. That is a narrow shelf, and it explains the odd prices below better than anything else on this page.
The client also lists a vendor pair: 3 silver to buy and 75 copper to sell back. Nothing in the scan records shows a vendor stocking it, so treat the buy figure as what the game thinks it is worth and as the number the listing deposit comes from.
Where Coarse Dynamite comes from
Engineers make it from a trainer recipe at skill 50: three Coarse Blasting Powder and one Linen Cloth make two sticks. The recipe is orange to 90, yellow from 90, green from 97 and grey from 105, which makes it one of the longest-lived skill-up recipes in the first hundred points of engineering. The Coarse Blasting Powder is itself an engineering craft five points earlier, at 45, so an engineer who has just learned the dynamite has usually just made a bag of the powder for the points.
- Coarse Dynamite · Engineering 50 · makes 23 × Coarse Blasting Powder, 1 × Linen Cloth
The recipes either side of it on the trainer list say what an engineer is choosing between at that skill: Rough Boomstick at 40, Coarse Blasting Powder and Crafted Heavy Shot at 45, Crude Scope and the Satchel of Copper Bombs at 50, Copper Modulator at 55. The Engineering recipe list has all of them with the current reagent cost on each market.
Who can use Coarse Dynamite
Engineers at 75 and up, and nobody else. Nothing in the Forever catalog takes Coarse Dynamite as a reagent, so there is no crafter buying it as an input; the live list below will show one if a later build adds it.
No recipe in the Forever client uses Coarse Dynamite as a reagent.
That leaves two reasons anyone wants a stick. The first is the skill-up: between 50 and 90 it is the cheapest orange recipe on the list, and the sticks are a by-product. The second is actually throwing it, which engineers do in the early dungeons and in PvP, where 60 Fire damage to everything in 5 yards is a lot at level 20 and nothing at level 40. Both reasons belong to the same small group of players, and that group makes its own supply. The auction house is where their surplus goes, not where their demand comes from.

In the October 2026 beta the four open US markets priced it anywhere from 2 silver to 50 silver a stick, and the listed counts explain the spread. Normal Alliance US had six sticks up at a median of 50 silver; Normal Horde US had fifteen at 2 silver; PvP Alliance US had eight at 4 silver; PvP Horde US had 222 at 5 silver. The 30 day medians sat between 96 copper and 4 silver 94 across the four, which is the honest range. A median of 50 silver on six units is one engineer asking, not a price anyone paid.
That is also why the recipe page can show a margin of 62 silver a craft on Normal Alliance US while the same recipe loses money on PvP Horde US. The crafting desk prices a craft at the medians of the moment, and on a six-unit shelf the moment is one seller. Read the listed count before the margin; the crafting profit guide explains how the margin is built and why a thin shelf makes it lie.
Make it, sell it, or skip it
- If you are leveling engineering. Make it from 50 to 90 and keep the sticks. They are the cheapest way through those forty points, and a stack in the bag is worth more in a Deadmines run than the 2 silver a stick it fetches on a deep shelf. Linen Cloth is the only reagent you do not make yourself; the cloth page has its price on every market.
- If you are selling surplus. List five at a time, never a stack of twenty, and only when the listed count on your market is under ten. The buyer is another engineer who skipped the recipe or ran out mid-dungeon, and there are not many of them on any given day.
- If you trade. Skip it. The buyer pool is engineers at 75 who can make their own, the vendor figure caps the ceiling at 3 silver if a vendor ever stocks it, and the neutral house keeps 15 percent of any cross-faction flip. The 50 silver median on one market is the bait; the six-unit shelf is the hook. The one durable trade near this item is the Coarse Blasting Powder underneath it, which every engineer between 45 and 105 burns in quantity.
The recipe page ranks the margin by market from each market's own scan. On this item, read the sold-per-day column beside it: a margin that only pays as fast as the result sells pays very slowly here.
What changes on 5 November
Launch starts every market from nothing, and the first engineers reach 50 on the first evening, so Coarse Dynamite will be among the first crafted consumables listed anywhere. For the first days the shelf will be thin on every market and the asking prices will be guesses; the beta shows what happens next, which is that the skill-up stock arrives and the price settles at a few silver. Nothing about the item changed between Classic Era and Forever, so there is no new demand to expect.
The one launch-week trade here is upstream. Linen Cloth and the powder's own reagents are wanted by every engineer at once in the first days, and the engineer who buys cloth at hour six pays what a tailor pays. The launch day guide covers that window, and the launch week page shows which materials sell fastest once the scans arrive.
Common questions
- Who can use Coarse Dynamite in WoW Forever?
- Engineers with skill 75 or higher. The item requires Engineering 75 to use, which is higher than the skill 50 needed to make it, so a non-engineer who buys it on the auction house cannot throw it.

- Is Coarse Dynamite worth making?
- For the skill points, yes: it is the cheapest orange recipe on the engineering list from 50 to 90. For profit, no: the buyers are other engineers who can make their own, and a high margin on the recipe page is usually one seller on a six-unit shelf.
- What does Coarse Dynamite do?
- Used, it inflicts 60 Fire damage to everything within 5 yards. It stacks to twenty and the catalog shows it unchanged from Classic Era in item level, requirements and vendor price.
