The gold meta

Herbs rise, Leatherworking crafts lead

• Herbs are the gather to farm: typically +11% on the week on PvP Horde, led by Arthas' Tears +682% and Purple Lotus +492%.
• Engineering parts are falling (typically -14%), so sell them as you get them.
• What sells fastest on the auction house, estimated from consecutive scans: Medium Leather (about 11,000 sold a day at 2s), Bronze Bar (about 11,000 sold a day at 4s) and Copper Ore (about 9,500 sold a day at 3s); stock of these never sits for long.
• Leatherworking pays best: 36 crafts that sell clear the cut on PvP Horde, led by Barbaric Bracers at about 24.83g; it leads on 2 of 4 houses.
• By gold a day, Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector (Engineering) leads instead: about 7 sold a day on the auction house, about 45.92g a day in margin for whoever supplies it all.
• Most recipes barely break even (the typical margin is 0c), so crafting pays only on the specific recipes above, not across a whole profession.
• Bags keep selling: Small Silk Pack at 69s (516 listed) and Mageweave Reagent Bag at 19.79g (13 listed).
• Green gear is plentiful and cheap (typically 29s, 38,772 listed) while blues hold value at 5.83g: list the rares, vendor or bulk-sell the greens.
• Prices are settling: 65% of items with depth are cheaper than a week ago, so sell into demand and do not stockpile.
• 883 listings sit 35% or more under their 7 day median with real depth.
• On the other houses the leaders differ: PvP Alliance (leather +45%, Engineering crafts), Normal Horde (Leatherworking crafts) and Normal Alliance (leather +41%, Tailoring crafts).
• PvP Horde is the biggest economy at about 66,674g listed (+203% on the week). PvP houses list 73% more than Normal.

How to approach it

1. Level with a gathering profession and farm herbs (Arthas' Tears, Purple Lotus and Frilled Lichen); sell them as they rise rather than holding a stockpile.
2. Pair it with Leatherworking (or Engineering) and keep Barbaric Bracers listed in small batches: about 4 or fewer sell at once.
3. A fat margin pays only as fast as it sells: Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector earns less per craft but about 7 sell a day on the auction house.
4. List rare gear at the median; vendor or bulk-sell greens instead of undercutting.
5. Flip from the deal scanner against the 7 day median, and only items with steady depth.
6. Pick your house with care: gold cannot move between megaservers.
