The gold meta

Herbs rise, Engineering crafts lead

• Herbs are the gather to farm: typically +26% on the week on PvP Horde US, led by Briarthorn +179%.
• What sells fastest on the auction house, estimated from consecutive scans: Kingsblood (about 4,500 sold a day at 11s), Heavy Leather (about 4,300 sold a day at 10s) and Briarthorn (about 3,700 sold a day at 5s); stock of these never sits for long.
• Engineering pays best: 53 crafts that sell clear the cut on PvP Horde US, led by Gnomish Rocket Boots at about 18.36g and EZ-Thro Bronze Mortar at about 16.19g; it leads on 2 of 4 houses.
• By gold a day, Barbaric Bracers (Leatherworking) leads instead: about 71 sold a day on the auction house, about 859g a day in margin for whoever supplies it all.
• Most recipes barely break even (the typical margin is 0c), so crafting pays only on the specific recipes above, not across a whole profession.
• Bags keep selling: Journeyman's Backpack at 50g (8 listed) and Large Knapsack at 2.19g (114 listed).
• Green gear is plentiful and cheap (typically 50s, 24,470 listed) while blues hold value at 7.99g: list the rares, vendor or bulk-sell the greens.
• 536 listings sit 35% or more under their 7 day median with real depth; vendor flips are gone, almost nothing is listed under its vendor price.
• On the other houses the leaders differ: PvP Alliance US (ore and stone +27%, Leatherworking crafts), Normal Horde US (ore and stone +6%, Engineering crafts) and Normal Alliance US (cooking +134%, Leatherworking crafts).
• PvP Horde US is the biggest economy at about 69,227g listed (+3% on the week). PvP houses list 75% more than Normal.

How to approach it

1. Level with a gathering profession and farm herbs (Briarthorn, Wild Steelbloom and Stranglekelp); sell them as they rise rather than holding a stockpile.
2. Pair it with Engineering (or Leatherworking) and keep Gnomish Rocket Boots and EZ-Thro Bronze Mortar listed in small batches: about 3 or fewer sell at once.
3. A fat margin pays only as fast as it sells: Barbaric Bracers earns less per craft but about 71 sell a day on the auction house.
4. List rare gear at the median; vendor or bulk-sell greens instead of undercutting.
5. Flip from the deal scanner against the 7 day median, and only items with steady depth.
6. Pick your house with care: gold cannot move between megaservers.
