The gold meta

Cooking rise, Cooking crafts lead

• Cooking are the gather to farm: typically +208% on the week on PvP Horde US, led by Raw Brilliant Smallfish +450%.
• Enchanting materials are falling (typically -35%, Greater Mystic Essence -46%), so sell them as you get them.
• What sells fastest on the auction house, estimated from consecutive scans: Silk Cloth (about 11,000 sold a day at 6s), Copper Ore (about 7,900 sold a day at 4s) and Coarse Stone (about 4,600 sold a day at 11s); stock of these never sits for long.
• Cooking pays best: 25 crafts that sell clear the cut on PvP Horde US, led by Dragonbreath Chili at about 1,063g.
• By gold a day, Solid Blasting Powder (Engineering) leads instead: about 690 sold a day on the auction house, about 720g a day in margin for whoever supplies it all.
• Most recipes barely break even (the typical margin is 0c), so crafting pays only on the specific recipes above, not across a whole profession.
• Bags keep selling: Large Knapsack at 7.96g (32 listed) and Small Silk Pack at 1.24g (195 listed).
• Green gear is plentiful and cheap (typically 60s, 6,812 listed) while blues hold value at 15g: list the rares, vendor or bulk-sell the greens.
• Prices are climbing: only 40% of items are cheaper than a week ago, so stock bought now tends to sell higher.
• 201 listings sit 35% or more under their 7 day median with real depth; vendor flips are gone, almost nothing is listed under its vendor price.
• On the other houses the leaders differ: Normal Alliance US (cloth +71%, Leatherworking crafts), PvP Alliance US (engineering parts +232%, Engineering crafts) and Normal Horde US (ore and stone +63%, Leatherworking crafts).
• PvP Horde US is the biggest economy at about 34,170g listed (-51% on the week). PvP houses list 19% more than Normal.

How to approach it

1. Level with a gathering profession and farm cooking (Raw Brilliant Smallfish and Raw Mithril Head Trout); sell them as they rise rather than holding a stockpile.
2. Pair it with Cooking (or Engineering) and keep Dragonbreath Chili listed in small batches: about 4 or fewer sell at once.
3. A fat margin pays only as fast as it sells: Solid Blasting Powder earns less per craft but about 690 sell a day on the auction house.
4. List rare gear at the median; vendor or bulk-sell greens instead of undercutting.
5. Flip from the deal scanner against the 7 day median, and only items with steady depth.
6. Pick your house with care: gold cannot move between megaservers.
