Cooking in World of Warcraft: Forever
130 recipes in Forever, 41 of them (32%) new since Classic Era, reaching Iron Oven, Flank au Poivre, Sweetpaw Jam. What Cooking makes, what it buys, the cheapest way through each skill bracket, what of it sells, and every recipe with its reagents.
Cooking turns meat, fish, eggs and vendor spices into food and drink: meals that restore health or mana, and many that also give a buff for as long as you stay fed. It is a secondary profession, so every character can learn it beside two primary ones, and the meat for it drops from the beasts you kill while leveling.
On the auction house the raw ingredients trade more than the dishes. Fish and meat from high level zones, and the eggs and tenderloins a recipe needs in bulk, are where the money is; the food itself sells to the players who do not cook, which on a fresh economy is most of them for the first weeks.
What Forever changes about Cooking
Forever adds a good deal to Cooking; the count above is how many of its recipes are new since Classic Era. The new dishes start in the first brackets with teas and smoothies (Peace Tea, Venomous Smoothie, Sunny Tea) and run up to Flank au Poivre and the others listed below.
Cooking also makes things that are not food now: a Basic, Journeyman and Expert Campfire Kit, an Iron Oven, and a meal for a group, Cookie’s Feast. What each one does is on its item page, from the game’s own tooltip.
The highest-skill recipes new to Forever: Iron Oven (260), Flank au Poivre (245), Sweetpaw Jam (240), Bat Hachee (240), Bear Bruscitti (240). Everything new is also listed under New in Forever.

Leveling Cooking in Forever
Cooking is cheap to level from what you kill: most early recipes take meat or eggs that beasts drop and spices from a cooking vendor. Keep the meat as you level rather than selling it, and pair the skill with Fishing for the higher brackets, where fish replace meat.
The cheapest craft per bracket below is the one that uses the fewest reagent units. Grey and green recipes still give skill points less often, so the table shows where each recipe stops paying.

Fewest reagent units is not always cheapest in gold; it is the measure that holds on every market, scanned or not. The crafting table ranks every recipe by what it costs and what it makes at the current medians.
What a cooking sells
The ingredients first. A recipe that needs a dozen Darkclaw Lobster or a stack of tenderloin turns those into the commodity, and the fishermen and hunters who supply them are paid before the cook is. The live prices on the reagents below say which ones are scarce on your house.
The food sells to people who do not cook, and the buff food sells hardest on raid night. A dish that only restores health competes with the vendors; one with a buff does not.
